A GAP Mini Try

I’ve styled Old Navy a ton of times, but GAP, which is a sister store, hasn’t been on my radar as much. We have an Old Navy near me, so I guess that is why I’ve tried their clothing the most. I had heard that the GAP store was a little better quality than Old Navy, so I decided to do a GAP Mini try-on haul to see for myself.

This is my idea of a casual, comfortable, weekend outfit. I want something that can be worn around the house, out to the mailbox, or to the store to buy groceries.

I was impressed by this sweatshirt-style vest. It is nice and thick, and very soft and comfortable. The description is that this is a vest, so I guess you could layer it over a long sleeve button-up shirt as the weather turns cooler. I’m wearing a medium, and it is plenty roomy.

I was thrilled when I saw that these jeans were low-rise. Don’t worry; these aren’t “plumber’s crack” showing low, just lower than what we’ve been used to seeing lately. Since I figured these would sit lower on my hips, I ordered up a size, and they fit perfectly. I also ordered Organic Cotton Low Rise ’90s Loose Jeans with Washwell in a size 29, and I couldn’t get them even close to buttoning. They were great looking jeans, but you will need to size up in them.

The next outfit is one that I meant to style with a blazer, but it got delayed, so I decided to take the photos without it. I wanted an outfit that could be worn to work or to a meeting, and I thought a blazer would keep the outfit professional looking.

I’m always looking for a good white T-shirt. I want one that is thicker so that you can’t see through it, and I love a v-neck to make my neck look longer. I have plenty of short sleeve tees that work, but I needed a long-sleeved version for fall and winter. I really love the material, and the feel of this shirt, but I would need to size up if I wore it without a layering piece. I could see my rolls (maybe because the pants were too tight) and I don’t like feeling like I need to “suck it in” all day long.

I loved the look of the pants, but they are way too tight for me. Since I’ve not ordered from GAP very much, I’ve not gotten used to the sizing. It looks like I need to size up in almost everything. I’m not sure if it is their sizing, or if it is my eating habits that are causing the issue. 🙄

I loved everything about this outfit, except the fit was once again off.

The striped crewneck t-shirt is one that I would wear a lot this fall. I could see myself wearing this with a denim jacket or a cardigan, and it would look great with jeans or a denim skirt. The large is too big on me, so it looks sloppy. Sizing down to a medium should fix that issue though.

The color of these khakis is exactly what I’ve been looking for! Unfortunately, they ran a little big, so they also look slouchy on me. I would also have liked them to be a little longer so I could wear them with heels, so I think I’m going to order another pair in a tall and see if I can get a better fit.

I ordered a few other things that just came in, so I didn’t have time to grab a photo. I’ll link to those things below. Overall, GAP does seem to carry higher quality clothing, and since a lot of their styles are classic pieces, you’ll be able to wear them for years. If you want even higher quality, then Banana Republic (another sister store) is the store for you.
